  • About the event

The Philadelphia Project is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit that seeks to primarily serve low-income and single-parent homes. The goal of our Community "Block Party" is to benefit our neighborhood in a way that not only makes their day better, but also enhances their quality of life. We will be equipping everyone to make simple and healthy lifestyle choices that will be immensley advantageous. Our event will host a number of free services for those in and around our community who may not have the resources to take advantage of these basic services on a regular basis. What some of us see has necessities, many see as luxuries due to how out of reach they may be. These services will include medical & dental screenings, men's & women's haircuts, veterinary care, a college prep course, resume assistance, chiropractor, masseuse, and acccupuncture. We will also host a few demonstrations that include yoga, flip fitness, and healthy cooking.

But we don't just want this to be a health fair. We want to offer something for the whole family, so we will also have food trucks, moon bounces, face painting, games, and a fire engine with fire safety information.

In addition to all of these services on the day of, like it was mentioned above, we desperately want to equip our community to live well. They will be able to take home vouchers for dental follow-ups and for eye examinations. We will also have tables for local organizations that they can participate in that assist in making living a healthy life easy and enjoyable. Information on nutrition and general health will be readily available. In conjunction with our healthy cooking demonstration, we will have bags with the ingredients used in the demonstration available for free, along with the recipe, so that people will be able give it a shot at home for the first time at no cost!

This event seeks to assist in our mission of serving our community from the ground up in a holistic way.

    Why should you sponsor?

Life is not short of its hardships, but with every hardship that someone faces, there-in lies an opportunity for someone else to step up and serve with love and compassion. This is that opportunity for you! I am often awed by the number of people who have never been to the dentist. Or those who walk through life unable to excel because of something as simple as they have an inability to afford an eye exam in order to get the vision correction they need. There are also many who just do not realize the vast difference that a regular doctor's visit makes or the type of confidence that is instilled after a fresh haircut. The most unfortunate thing is that many see these services as luxuries, and they just cannot afford luxuries. Help us to put the SERVE back into SERVICE. By supporting this event, you are supporting and impacting individuals and families who will then go out and spread that impact. This event will not only be provided necessities, but it will be a catalyst for change by instilling confidence into those who have forgotten what confidence even feels like. Your support isn't going towards an event. Your support is going towards change. Your support is going towards healthy families. Your support is going towards the betterment and advancement of our communities at a ground level. Change has to begin with the foundation, and that foundation is people.
