  • About the event

The ESports for High School Academy (ESHA) Championships are the first and largest competitive video gaming tournament for high school students in Ontario! Last year, over 200 students participate in the ESHA experience consisting of a month-long eSports tournament, full online coverage of the tournament on our website, and our "Moments of Glory" web series that showcases top talent and team-play.

Our team consists of 8 inspiring grade 12 high school students who work alongside high school representatives. Our mission is to inaugurate, establish, and unite high school clubs from across the province under the common interest of eSports. With your help, we can bring together the next generation of eSports enthusiasts!

    Why should you sponsor?

Why Sponsor ESHA? ESHA offers many opportunities for advertising your products and services to high school students interested in entertainment, technology, and in bringing their video gaming experience to the next level.

Branding and Exposure: From our weekly "Moments of Glory" web series to our fully functioning website, we can assure your brand will catch the eyes of high school students and enthusiasts through our events.

Accountability: Unlike other High School eSports Leagues, ESHA requires that all school clubs be partnered with school teachers and staff. This means that all of the video games we feature, such as League of Legends, are school appropriate. We are also an advocate of leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, and balancing academics which are all extensively outlined in our program.

Past Events: From October 22 to Dec 2, 2017, ESHA ran its first test tournament, titled season 0, and successfully established two high school eSports clubs at Waterloo Collegiate Institute and Waterloo-Oxford. In total, over 100 students took part and one team crowned the ESHA Season 0 Champions. With our growing audience, we have since recruited 3 additional high schools and are expecting around 200 high school students attending our 2018 events.

Online Event: The ESHA experience begins with high school club setup as well as the first half of the tournament, lasting around two months. Opportunities to advertise your company include our website, weekly"Moments of Glory" web series, weekly news articles on our website, and promotional material we provide our high school captains with, which includes posters that will go up at their designated high school and slideshows they present during weekly meetings. Not only will you be advertising to the participants of the tournament, you will also gain lots of exposure around the halls of Ontario's high schools!

Lan Event: Playoffs to determine the ESHA champions occur in the auditorium of Waterloo Collegiate Institute, a 3-day long event. We offer booths outside the auditorium where you can connect with attendees by showing off your products and services. We also recommend providing some goodies such as pens, stickers, stress balls, t-shirts, etc.

    Bryan Ling

My name is Bryan Ling, a grade 12 high school students from Waterloo Collegiate Institute. I originally created ESHA with a group of friends after I saw the failed attempt of a grade 9 student who tried to set up an esports club at our school. All he needed was a one-morning announcement on the PA system, and during the day of the first meeting, the hallways were packed with students who wanted to participate, with even teachers walking by wondering what was going on. But without a plan, the club failed to exist and was eventually canceled. Wanting to join the club myself, I thought to myself: "I can do better". Since then I have assembled a team with close friends, all with individual talents to help me on my venture. Everything from writing, coding, video editing, and number crunching (List of members is available on our website). We managed to secure 2 high school clubs, one at Waterloo Collegiate and one at Waterloo-Oxford, during the 2017-2018 school year and had participation number in the hundreds! In addition, we also secured 3 more high school clubs for the next year! Going into my final year of high school, my friend and I hope to host a memorable event, as this will be the last time we get to see each other before post-secondary. With your help, we can create the first and largest high school esports league!
