About the event

The Alabama Fiber Arts Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to promoting fiber arts through education, workshops, and community events. Our mission is to make fiber arts accessible to everyone by fostering creativity, supporting small businesses, and building connections across the community.

One of our key initiatives is the Alabama Fiber Festival, which will return for its second year on November 14–15, 2025, at Cahaba Brewing in Birmingham, AL. The inaugural festival welcomed more than 900 attendees and nearly 30 vendors. In 2025, the festival will expand to two full days and is expected to feature 50–60 vendors, multiple workshops, demonstrations, and interactive experiences.

The festival provides a unique opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to experience the fiber arts - knitting, crochet, weaving, spinning, felting, and more. Attendees enjoy shopping from independent makers, participating in hands-on learning, and connecting with others who share a love of creativity. Beyond the marketplace, the event also creates space for community engagement, education, and accessibility, making fiber arts more approachable and inclusive.

Kara Dupre

My name is Kara Dupre, and I serve as both the Festival Director of the Alabama Fiber Festival and a leader within the Alabama Fiber Arts Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. I have a professional background in marketing operations and project management for a national company, which means I’m highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in coordinating large initiatives. I helped found the Alabama Fiber Festival in 2024, bringing together over 900 attendees and 30 vendors in its first year, and I am committed to growing it into a signature arts event for our region.
