About our event

I am one of the participants in the eco mobility event “The Sun Trip 2018” - an adventure that requires riding solar bicycles  as individuals or in teams of two, over 12 000 km, across 10 countries, from Lyon, France to Guangzhou (Canton), China!

We are unassisted during the trip, but we are required to send text, images or videos at least twice a week for our supporters to be able to follow us on social media channels.

Sponsorship Opportunities

I know that your company promotes and shares some of the same values of this event, like the love for adventure, use of pioneering techniques, finding solutions to challenges, empowering the new generations for (social) entrepreneurship, etc.

I have already made a pleasant surprise with my intention of participating with a unique vehicle for this edition, a very efficient means of travel - a velomobile! It is a light vechicle increasingly popular in the Netherlands (there are quite a few manufactures over there) and in the western Europe!

It will showcase your logo/other info on the fairing (a couple of square meters!) and it will have a photovoltaic roof on top.

Example of a velombile displaying a brand: http://www.recumbent-gallery.eu/wp-content/uploads/DSC_04641.jpg

I will also collaborate with Iridium on the communications side, I should have state of the art satellite internet connection all the time, even in the remote parts of the journey!!

The sponsor benefits from: - advertising on the internet and the brand will be showcased during the official departure in France and the arrival in China and during the 2 to 3 month duration of the adventure - Provision and licence of all the images produced by the organizer are for the business’s own use - If your company has operations in many of the countries crossed, therefore the media materials obtained can be used for creating the same commercial in all these countries because this adventure promotes universal values like adventure, state of the art technology, cycling as a sport and means of travel, solar energy, tourism and the beauty and diversity of the countries involved and their cultures.

Hello,

I am Andrei Chiver, I am an electrical engineer passionate about IT & cycling. I embrace the Do-It-Yourself way of life, solving everyday problems.

Ever since I helped building our family cottage I came to realise that being out of the comfort zone is the way to become a smarter, better person.
Although I played different sports during childhood like football, basketball, or performed martial arts, downhill mountain biking, I even became a glider pilot, I didn't excel in any of them (well,  I did win the bronze medal at the Taekwon-Do ITF national championship).

However, long distance cycling felt natural to me, especially because it involved more planning & mechanical troubleshooting, and when I turned 17 I had a 4-day trip 840 km long from my hometown to the seaside in Romania.

As the years passed by, I became a velomobile advocate and finally I built my own trike (well, except for the rear fork) and the Sun Trip adventure is great for designing & testing which is the best way for sustainable transportation.

You can see my trike here: https://imgur.com/a/z9187

I would rather like to participate to suntrip with a velomobile, the trike being my last option.

All in all, I think I rode about 2500 km in 1 to 4 days expeditions and also I have commuted daily to work for about 2 years.

And after some former Sun Trip participants said that they would do this all over again, I said for myself that I can't miss this opportunity!
