1st Annual Sundress Ball – Scholarship Fundraiser,

About the event

Dear Mr./Ms,

Iota Phi Theta Fraternity is a nationally incorporated collegiate fraternity, founded in 1963 on the campus of Morgan State University.  Established by twelve men, the Fraternity now boasts of over 70,000 members in forty U.S. States and around the world.  As a non-profit organization, the Fraternity’s mission is the “development and perpetuation of scholarship, leadership, citizenship, fidelity, and brotherhood among men.”  Just to name a few local community service activities, GXO participates in the Passport-To-Manhood youth program targeting urban male youth at the Findlay Street Boys & Girls club.  We also participate in the Medger Evers young males mentoring program at the Finneytown High School Secondary Campus in Finneytown Ohio, a program that is coordinated by the Cincinnati chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc.

One of our national community initiatives is promoting & raising funds for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  St. Jude provides funding for families of children with illnessesthat will take extensive and expensive treatments.

In continuation of the Fraternity’s mission and motto the Gamma Xi Omega (Greater Cincinnati) Alumni Chapter of Iota Phi Theta will be hosting its first Annual Sundress Ball– Scholarship Fundraiser on May 25^th, 2019.

The Scholarship Fundraiser will be a fun-filled night of live music, handcrafted southern cocktails, and a silent auction featuring established and up-and-coming Cincinnati artists. Dancing the night away in sundresses, seersuckers, and polo style fashions, the goal is to raise scholarship money to assist minority male students graduating from Cincinnati Public Schools, who have enrolled in a four-year College or University.

Why should you sponsor?

By helping sponsor this scholarship event it would allow this small non-profit organization promote our mentoring program for underprivileged youth and solicit more sponsorships for next year due to this event being established.  

As a small non-profit organization that is envolved with students in the cincinnati public school systems, it would be good to not only mentor students but also be able to provide the most studious student candidates that have completed our mentoring program, finish highschool and enrolled in college with scholarship funds toward their first school year or more.

As the chapter president of this Iota Phi Theta, Inc. Cincinnati Alumni Chapter I have taking it upon myself to push the organization local initiative of promoting higher education to under privileged youths with our mentoring program with scholarship fundraising. 

With the establishment of our mentoring program and scholarship fundraising events the chapter can progressively set the early building blocks for the I.O.T.A foundation (Impacting Outcomes Through Action) a foundation that will provide community enrichment programs/initiatives and partner up with other community establishments to improve the quality of Cincinnati under privileged communities. 

Being apart of this organization has shown me the importance of giving back to the community and obtaining a higher education degree. Having a Master In Public Health and working for the University of Cincinnati in the Human Protection Program. I see the value of people sharing knowledge and supporting those who need a little help because when one needs help we all need help.
