My name is Valentina Luma, and I currently serve on the Membership & Reclamation Committee within the Delta Omicron Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Beyond my leadership role, I am a full-time nursing student, a healthcare worker, and someone deeply committed to service, scholarship, and uplifting women in my community.

Zeta has played a meaningful role in my growth—both personally and professionally. Joining this sisterhood allowed me to connect with women who share the same commitment to service, leadership, and community engagement. As someone pursuing a career in nursing and public health, my passion aligns deeply with Zeta’s mission of supporting families and strengthening underserved communities.

Planning the Blue Belle Brunch is especially important to me because it represents so much more than a social gathering. This event brings together women from all walks of life—many of whom are balancing careers, motherhood, finances, education, and service—yet still choose to show up for their communities. I see myself reflected in them. This brunch celebrates our accomplishments, restores our sense of sisterhood, and creates space for connection, healing, and empowerment.

Zeta’s principles resonate with me daily. As a nurse-in-training, a caregiver, and a leader, I understand the importance of creating spaces where women feel valued, seen, and supported. This brunch is one of those spaces. It is a moment for women—especially those from low-to-moderate income backgrounds—to feel uplifted, appreciated, and included without barriers.

Supporting this event means supporting:

— Mental wellness and community connection
— Empowering and retaining women who serve families in need
— Strengthening a historic Black sorority deeply rooted in service

This event matters to me because it reflects the heart of Zeta: sisterhood, service, and the celebration of women who give so much of themselves to the world.
