Carleton Relay For Life,

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

  • About the event

Carleton's Relay For Life is a 12-hour relay held on Carleton campus as a celebration for the hard work the student body has put into fundraising for the Canadian Cancer Society over the past year. This will be Carleton's 11th year participating in this event.

The event is expected to have 1000 participants and has a fundraising goal of $160,000. The event will have guest speakers, a celebration for the cancer survivors in attendance, and a vigil for those lost to, or fighting cancer currently. It will also have activities and instructor-led events throughout the evening.

    Why should you sponsor?

Relay For Life is the biggest post-secondary fundraiser in Canada, and has a large backing from the Canadian Cancer Society. Carleton was the second largest event in Canada last year and is on track to be the biggest this year.

With this comes an awareness from the Carleton campus and the surrounding Ottawa communities about this event, which brings media presence from around the country. Sponsors should expect campus-wide, Ottawa local and provice-wide news coverage, including special mention of the sponsor during any interviews.

Carleton is a social-media savvy campus, and will thus be using social media throughout the evening to garner more support from their posts. Sponsored instagram and snapchat filters can be used to further mention sponsors within the event.

    Carleton Relay For Life

My name is Cole Hickman and I am a fourth year journalism student at Carleton University. I am also the Participant Engagement Coordinator for Carleton's Relay for Life 2019/2020 event.

I have spent the last 4 years at university dedicating myself to community service and philanthropic ventures with organisations such as the Ottawa Humane Society, The Red Cross, and Movember. Last year I was the Greek Outreach chair (communicating with the fraternity and sorority communities at Carleton) and was voted in as organiser for Relay this year.

The efforts that the Canadian Cancer Society hit close to home, as my family, like almost everyone else's, has been affected by cancer. That's why I'm dedicating this year to making Carleton's Relay For Life the most successful and most attended event in Carleton history.
