FashFilmFete is a premiere film festival celebrating the history, and future, of fashion storytelling. Our mission is to curate a selection of Hollywood, indie, experimental and documentary films to showcase the significance of fashion in filmmaking. FFF will bring together a global community of fashion and film aficionados to explore style in cinema and its influence on pop culture, fashion design, contemporary art and beauty standards.
In addition to showcasing films that illustrate the role that fashion plays in helping tell a character’s story, we also want to provide a platform for historically unheard voices of underrepresented people in film and fashion, specifically people of color and women.
We are excited to invite you to join us on this journey as we explore the intersection of fashion and film.
FASH: Short for fashion, relating to wearables.
FILM: A story or narrative in movie format.
FETE: French for festival or elaborate party.
FFF provides brands and companies with events and media marketing opportunities to align your company with key consumers, entertainment industry influencers and press. The festival gives sponsors exposure to an audience of filmgoers and filmmakers from all over the world.
Sponsors have myriad opportunities to get your name seen by hundreds of people, whether they attend FFF or not. You have the chance to have your name placed across FFF marketing materials—visible to all attendees and patrons of the Phoenix Art Museum.
I’ve been intrigued about the role of fashion in film since watching two of my favorite sartorially impactful films, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” (1961) starring Audrey Hepburn and Mahogany (1975) starring Diana Ross. Both featured charismatic characters, with a penchant for style. I was introduced to these films long after they made their silver screen debut, but they have lived on in my mind, as they have in popular culture.
It wouldn’t be too farfetched to say that these films sparked a love for cinema style, and led me to launch TheChicSpy.com, an online style and entertainment magazine. The popular site featured interviews with movie insiders including actors Emma Stone, Selma Hayek and Octavia Spencer, as well as costume designers such as Michael O'Connor (Jane Eyre), Madeline Fontaine (Jackie) and Catherine Martin (The Great Gatsby).
Fastforward to 2019, I have since archived the popular site, but my passion for fashion and film lives on. It inspired me to launch FashFilmFete, to celebrate the role of fashion in telling a compelling story.
I have written for Arizona Republic/Gannett publications, Hearst Media Services and various online publications. I've alos been featured in publications such as Forbes.com and TeenVogue.com.
In 2007 I launched TheChicSpy.com and in 2015 I started Chic Spy Day, to celebrate the style of onscreen spies. I have a B.S. in Communications and Media Studies from Arizona State University and an MFA in Fashion Journalism, with an emphasis in Multimedia from Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
