Pools of Hope is hosting our First Annual Santa Paws Swim Fundraiser on Saturday, December 15, 2018, from 2pm to 5pm.  We would like to invite you to become a vendor at this fun holiday event. This event includes a canine swim, pet photos with Santa and prizes; all while socializing with other dog lovers.  Pools of Hope is celebrating their 55th anniversary of providing life-changing aquatic therapy and wellness programs to veterans, children with special needs and the elderly.

We are providing a fun and unique opportunity for your dog to enjoy our indoor heated pools, before we close for our annual holiday break.  We are anticipating serving over 100 dogs over the course of this event.

Funds raised from the event will support our efforts in providing:

●        Children with Special Needs Therapeutic Swim Lessons

●        Elderly Aquatic Exercise Classes

●        Veterans & Families Aquatic & Wellness Programs

●        Spinal Cord Injury Aquatic Therapy

●        Summer Swim Camps for low-income children

We are offering a limited number of companies and organizations the opportunity to become a vendor. The cost to obtain a table is $50.00.  We are anticipating a large crowd of canines and pet owners. You will be able to provide information, advertise and sell products to dog owners and guests.

We are dedicated to providing accessible and affordable aquatic therapeutic programs to the community. The Pools of Hope services enable those unable to participate in land-based rehabilitation and exercise activities, an opportunity to engage in health promotion and disease prevention programs in a therapeutic, injury-free environment.

Our History

The Pools of Hope history began in 1956 with the support of the community, a dedicated civic leader (Evelyn duPont) and a small backyard pool. Ms. duPont had developed polio as an adult and was rehabilitating through aquatic therapy. Her rehabilitation inspired her to open her pool to provide free swim lessons to children with disabilities. 

In 1963, the organization was incorporated and purchased an outdoor pool facility located at 6801 Long Beach Boulevard, in Long Beach, CA. In 1977, a major renovation was completed to enclose the facility allowing for year-round usage. The not for profit corporation later became the California Pools for the Handicapped and in 1996, the California Pools of Hope, Inc. (CPH), and in 2009 the California Aquatic Therapy and Wellness Center, Inc.  In recent years, the organization incorporated the DBA of Pools of Hope.
