About the event
Hatfield College, the second oldest college at Durham University holds a spectular celebration known as Lumey Ball annually at the end of the Michaelmas term. This is one of the much-anticipated events in Hatfield’s social calendar and the only Hatfield ball that takes place outside college grounds, at the magnificent Lumley Castle just outside Durham. The ball sees the Castle transformed for the evening in honour of the chosen theme, and 160 guests arrive for a magical night. There promises to be welcome drinks, an indulgent three-course meal, a variety of entertainment and live music including performances by popular local bands. There will also be a charity raffle held during the evening which will be an opportunity for your brand to get recognised among Durham students. It is a privilege for the committee to work with a several organisations to put on this truly unforgettable event year after year. The theme chosen for this year is ‘The Great Gatsby’, inspired by the 1925 novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The Jazz Age will be celebrated and Lumley Castle is the perfect venue to be transported back to the decadence and glamour of the Roaring 20s.
Why should you sponsor?
The most recent Hatfield College ball had a following of over 500 people and this event will be no different. Therefore, this event is a great opportunity to increase brand awareness among Durham University students. Indeed, the ball is always oversubscribed with a huge waiting list because of the reputation and magnificence of the ball.
We are also putting on a charity raffle for Moving On Durham which is important to us as it as local youth homless charity in County Durham. If you are unable to give monetary means right now we would be thrilled if you would consider donating to our charity raffle to help a great cause.
