The Make Climate Action Everyone’s Business Forum hosted by the International Chamber of Commerce from 1 –13 November 2021 will catalyse peer-to-peer discussions and frank exchanges between business leaders from small, medium-sized and multinational enterprises representing different sectors and jurisdictions; policymakers leading the UN negotiation process as well as local government representatives and UN agency heads.
This fully virtual Forum aims to bring together 10,000+ participants from over 100 countries and will be organised around five key themes, focusing on critical issues to consider when developing the necessary regulatory frameworks and incentives needed to enable rapid decarbonisation of the global economy.
The platform aims to mimic an in-person experience, facilitating networking, pre-scheduling meetings, closed door substantive discussions (including BINGO briefings) and plenary sessions. Should circumstances permit, hybrid and in-person elements will also be developed at the COP 26 official venue.
ICC has been the official Focal Point for Business and Industry NGOs(BINGO) of the UNFCCC, the UN Framework Convention for Climate Change, since the early 90s. In this capacity, we are responsible for bringing the voice of business to the international climate negotiations, providing advice, expertise and technical input –not only at COPs but also throughout the year in the different UNFCCC processes. As in previous years, we have a central role to play at COP 26 that includes:
Bringing a delegation of business leaders to the conference;
Hosting closed-door meetings (“BINGO Briefings”) to provide an update and discuss the development of the negotiations;
Delivering statement for and on behalf of business in Plenary and High-Level Meetings;
Hosting bilateral meetings with key negotiating Parties to provide business insights;
Co-hosting events withHigh-Level Climate Champions and the UNFCCC Marrakech Partnership;
Working with other organisations, partners and ICC National Committees to deliver a series of business-centric side events on top-tier issues, including Article 6, carbon pricing, NDC enhancement and implementation Coalition and SME climate action.
