    The Labor Day Parade (or West Indian Carnival) is an annual celebration held on American Labor Day (the first Monday in September) in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, in New York City.

    The main event is the West Indian Day Parade, which attracts between one and three million participants. The spectators and participators watch and follow the parade on its route along Eastern Parkway. Most of the Caribbean islands, mainland Caribbean, Latin and African countries patripate in the fesivites as well.

    Mala Kaya Mas was established this year to promote the cultures of the African Diaspora. Our masqueraders will be featured with the award winning band Suga Candy Mas. We will cater to everyone and make them part of our cultural family.

    Why should you sponsor?

    Your sponsorship support assists Mala Kaya Mas, in achieving its goal to raise over $10000 each year. This is the cost of presenting our annual New York Caribbean Carnival Costumes for potenial masquerdaders and specatotors who come to the West Indian American Day Carnival (WIADCA) located in Brooklyn, New York to enjoy. Mala Kaya Mas will be feautured under the award winning Carnvial Band Suga Candy Mas. Mala Kaya Mas is proud to acknowledge its role in presenting and promoting Caribbean Culture while giving masquerdaders and spectators.

    Mala Kaya Mas is looking for sponsorships of any kind. In goods product sponsorships for our masquerdaders swag bags and specators giveaways. Boarding for our costume production team. Finanical sponsorship for our costume products such as feathers, trimining, fabric etc. We are greatful for all kind of help.


    Dara Gadsden

    Dara Alina Berquin is a highly passionate Fashion Designer, Event Planner, Performing Artist and Educator. She was born and raised in New York City. Her experience aligns well as a Costume Designer for many dance companies located on the east coast. As a event planner she helped coordinated events for MLB Fan Fest 2013, Windows 7 and many other fortune 500 companies. She founded Mala Kaya Mas because she believes the tradtional experince of carnvial is not a proirity to the NYC African Diaspora Community. Through this new venture she wants to promote, educate and unify the culture for her community and future generations.
