MelaninMe Boutique Release Party,

Sacramento, California, United States Sacramento, California, United States

  • About the event

The name of my online boutique is called MelaninMe. In light of all the has happened with so many racial issues arising one being black lives matter, I have created a clothing line to not only spark people's interest within fashion. Showcasing  a culture so often forgotten. But mainly to draw awareness to the fact that we are not so different everyone has some form of Melanin within their DNA. I call it Fashion meets Black History I have a little something for everyone especially my logo print items. Everything from shirts, pants, dresses, jewelry, dashikis, and a variety of wholesale items as well mainly focusing on support of Black business. My Father recently passed away and he was a black veteran once the website is actually functionally running I would like to donate a portion of my proceeds to a charity for black or minority veterans. Here to teach everyone to come together and embrace the Melanin that is within.

    Why should you sponsor?

I believe that a sponsor should support my event because my business, my brand and my way of thinking could be a small light at the end of a dark tunnel for so many people. Knowledge is key and who doesn't love fashion. I believe a sponsor should support my event because I am dedicated to doing this no matter if I get sponsored or not. I spent $1804.06 on product and branding and made $1415.56 in 4 months with just business cards, talking to people and my social media sites. I have the drive and the will to win. This coming March I plan to begin sewing classes as well as purchasing my own printing press out of pocket so I can begin printing non-stop.

    Dawn Jackson

My name is Dawn Jackson I am a 32 year old mother of 2 beautiful girls 3 and 6. Right after high school I was accepted to FIDM San Francisco portfolio and all. The tuition was really expensive and I just could not afford it so I went to a trade school for Medical Assistant and then for my Associates Degree in Medical Office Administration. I did caregiving for 10 years and all the way through college. Now that I have children I know that I cannot give them a 9-5 when I die, and since my daughter loves fashion just as much as I do there is no better gift I can give to them than stability and the lesson of hardwork. I plan to one day turn the online store into a storefront boutique. I have my father to thank for my thought process he had his own carpet store when I was a child sold and installed the carpet. I know exactly what I want and I know exactly where I'm going.
