The Miss Sudan Organization is working to encourage healthy beauty standards in the Sudanese community. We want to empower young girls by presenting them with role models in the community to aspire to. We also want to give opportunities to our contestants and assist them in achieving their individual goals. Our vision is to have young women around the world becoming mentors by allowing our younger generations across the globe to make powerful connections. Ultimately: A Sudanese sisterhood of excellence!
The first ever Miss Sudan Pageant--in the U.S. or abroad-- was held at Marshall High School in Falls Church, VA on Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 6pm to 10pm. We had a very great turnout for our first event with more than 400 people in attendance. National Geographic filmed the event and the documentary will be broadcast Summer 2018. Our Miss Sudan winner walked away with a scholarship and a donation to the charity of her choice; in addition, participating in the pageant has allowed her to make several appearances at high profile events, and volunteers in the Sudanese and local community.
Our goal for next year is to hold at least three pageants in cities across America. Your sponsorship dollars will go towards the cost of venues, marketing, event operations, and a scholarship for the pageant winners.
There are nearly 1 million Sudanese living in the United States with around 50,000 living in the DC, Maryland, Virginia metropolitan alone. The DMV, Dallas, and Philadelphia have the most concentrated populations of Sudanese, African, and Muslim immigrants. This is a great opportunity to reach a multitude of people and market your brand to America’s fastest growing consumer demographic.
Hi, I am Elogien Ali, I am the founder and Executive Director of the Miss Sudan Organization. I founded the organization to change our the views of Sudanese girls in our community and the larger society. I am an elementary school teacher and have been an advocate for kids all my life. I strongly believe in encouraging girls to follow their dreams and not let anyone put them done or define how they should look or be like. Beauty shouldn't define them. I am a graduate of the College of William and Mary and have traveled all over the world and witnessed the discrimination against girls and women.
