About the event
When the founder of this event thought about how he could bring the community together, art immediately came to mind. He began brainstorming various ways to attract various demographics, and that is through film. As a film maker himself and one who admires all genres of movies, he created this film festival. With support from Albany's Mayor, and the Govenor of New York State, we are proud to say this is the fourth year for the New York State Internaional Film Festival! We accept all films from all over the world under different genres such as drama, comedy, documentary, horror, experimental, animation. We have screened 187 short films in 3 years. We had thousands of filmmakers and audiences join us from coast to coast and from Canada. Q&A panels are held after the showings, we encourage these panels because it allows the audience to connect with the filmmakers and they're able to really understand the meaning/motive/inspiration of each individual short film. We will also welcome back Comedian & Actor Kevin Brown (aka Dot Com) to be the host again this year. The festival will be announced on all local TV channels, radio, news, and magazines. This year's festival takes place October 11-12, at The Linda Performing Arts Center in Albany, NY. Our non-profit event has one goal in mind: Celebrate art and encourage film makers and audiences to continue to enjoy our own moving picture, life!

nico altekinNico Altekin, is the founder and director of the NYSIFF. He is a local restaurant owner and filmmaker. Nico aspires to bring film makers and audiences together over the common love for movies. As a film maker, he understands the struggles of the art community and wanted to stand up for film makers everywhere, give them a home to share their stories. The New York State Internation Film Festival is not only a fun, educational event, some of the festival goers say this is a necessity in their community! Nico faced some critisicm at first and was hesitant to start this festival with his pocket money, but he is so proud he took the risk and is now on his fourth year.
