SmashCut CineFest 2019,

About the event

SmashCut CineFest is the annual film screening put on by Taliesin Nexus, a Los Angeles based 501c3 nonprofit organization which helps up-and-coming filmmakers with unique perspectives break into the entertainment industry. This screening is a showcase of the tremendous talent of these filmmakers and the culminatin of the hard work they have put in for 120 days to bring these films to fruition. 

The 2019 CineFest is an evening of film and culture. We will be premiering five new short films as well as hosting a special screening of the 2017 short film Tank Man in honor of the 30th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square protests. After the screening we will host a Q&A discussion with the filmmakers as well as an after-party reception. 

Why should you sponsor?

We rely on the generous donotions of our supporters in order to fund the grants that bring these films to life. Our programs are aimed at helping these talented artists who might not have the time or money to advance in their craft through traditional ways such as expensive film schools. We want to ensure a diverse culture of storytelling in our country by making sure that these artists have a path forward to share their unique perspective and make their voices heard.

In the 8 years we have been in operation, over 600 people have participated in our talent development programs. We serve a diverse community of writers, directors, producers and other creative people whose voice may not be heard otherwise. Our mission is to break through the glass ceiling and let the light of hundreds of diverse voices be heard. Not everyone has the money to go to USC film school. We provide the same level of training and education for a fraction of the overhead expense at no charge for the program participant.
