Kizomba (as well as it’s precursor, Semba) is a family friendly partner dance originating in Angola. It is however, more than just a dance. Kizomba is a culture - beautiful soulful music, dancing, eating, socializing - grounded in human interaction.
Steel City Kizomba Festival 2019, held October 24 through 27, will bring together professional dance instructors, DJs, students, and performers--from more than 25 cities across the US, Africa, and Europe--for a weekend of dance instruction, networking, social dancing, and performances.
After three successful years, Steel City Kizomba outgrew holding its larger weekend event in dance studios, and launched Steel City Kizomba Festival 2018 at the DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. For 2019, our budget has more than doubled, and we need your help to continue making our weekend event accessible to all students of dance. Steel City Kizomba is one of the only dance companies focusing on teaching cultural understanding in tandem with music and dance, and is looking to expand its relationships and partnerships to sustain and grow events like Steel City Kizomba Festival 2019.
Please sponsor Steel City Kizomba Festival 2019 to help us continue bringing world-class, affordable dance education and cultural understanding to Pittsburgh. We look forward to partnering with you this year, and many more to come.
