About the event
Our National Meeting is an opportunity for delegates to network and create new multidisciplinary collaborations and secondly to stimulate development of innovative ideas to address challenges in surgery.
This year’s theme is “Surgery 2030: Transformative Technologies” and we would like delegates to:
– Understand the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to technology development for surgery
– Understand the key success factors for clinical adoption of surgical innovation
– Gain an overview of potential surgical applications of existing and/or new technology and how research collaborations accelerate the journey to patient accessWhy should you sponsor?

Vee MapundeThe Surgical MedTech Cooperative, which is part of the National Institute for Health Research in the United Kingdom.
We support the development of new technologies in the fields of colorectal, vascular and hepatopancreaticobiliary (liver, gall bladder and pancreas) surgery, improving both healthcare and quality of life for patients. Through our nationwide network of clinicians, engineers, scientists, industry and patients, we identify new areas in need of innovation, support research to address these clinical problems, and provide a resource for evaluating new surgical technologies within the NHS, helping them to move into clinical practice.
Our previous National Meetings have attracted over 150 people and there is always a good mix of clinicians (a large number surgeons), academics from engineering, nanotechnology and biosensing backgrounds, industry and a number of patient representatives. In addition to our speakers, this year's event will include a PhotoVoice session which will give delegates an insight into what "transformational technologies" means to patients undergoing surgery.
