Teen Focus Summer Camp,

Riverside, California, United States Riverside, California, United States

  • About the event

This event is a networking summer camp for children that are survivors who lost their parents or close family due to gun violence, COVID-19, terminal illness, etc. 2020 was a year of more loss than most, children have been dreadfully impacted by the pandemic.  Losing family members suddenly from the disease, homicides surging, and the increase of suicide especially in students that are remote learning.  The summer camp will allow these children to come (with a loved one if they choose) and participate in different activities including help with mental health, growth, tutoring, and guidance counseling.

Any money raised will go towards:

Renting a conference room at the Ontario Hotel and Convention Center.  The camp will run 5 days a week with 25 children per week.  At the camp the children will have healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks throughout the day.  Each week there will be at least 5 support professionals available to talk/help with the children as need be including social workers, counselors, tutors, and growth coaches.

If COVID does not allow for an in-person camp, instead of in-person camp, a virtual webinar with break out rooms will be used instead.  Scholarships for a tablet and wifi to participate in this “camp” will be allocated for 35 students.  Instead of receiving a book bag with goodies at the camp, all will be shipped out to participants ahead of time.  Most of the content will remain the same during the virtual camp as the participants would have received at the in-person camp.

    Why should you sponsor?

By sponsoring, you would directly be impacting the lives of children, proving them with mental and emotional support that they are currently lacking. You would be providing services such as mental health, growth, tutoring, and guidance counseling.  You would also be encouraging collaboration and healthy friendship that children would not have otherwise.

    Teen Focus

Our organization was originally founded as an after-school program called Teen Focus Inc, in Dec. 1999 – 2007. Dr. Kim Scott relaunched the program as a non-profit in 2015. Teen Focus Inc.  is a non profit with a mission to provide and complete educational support systems for disadvantaged youth.  We will provide guidance, resources, and mentors to encourage members to complete their educational & career goals.  Our vision is that our students will graduate from high school, complete their post-secondary goals, obtain their job of choice, and give back to their communities.  Simply put, at Teen Focus Inc, we are here to develop a support system for at-risk teens ages 10-18 yrs old. Our focus is to promote lifelong personal growth, help them overcome childhood traumas that may be holding them back, and to create in these youth a sincere belief in themselves through life skills coaching, mentorship, counseling, and vocational training and preparedness.
