  • About the event

    PURPOSE:
    This document proposes a brief overview of the plan to stage a fundraising
    event in the form of a “MUSIC CONCERT”. The Fort Of Chords seeks
    assistance for the necessities to host our event which will be causative to the
    sustainability of our organization so the we will be able to render the services
    to the causes mentioned under the section ‘Main Objectives’.

     

    VISION:
    To help the transgender community, domestic violence victims, and child
    marriage victims of Pakistan and create an awareness.


    MISSION:
    We are working towards the betterment of a cause to which our community
    has not been paying attention. We believe, through the assistance of our
    event, the designated NGOs will be able to solve the cases, effectively,
    related to the causes we have mentioned.

     

    MAIN OBJECTIVES

    The event is being held to support three causes. The causes are related to human rights violation which have reached an alarming stage. Therefore, we wish to raise enough funds to help the respective NGOs work on the causes effectively

    HELPING THE TRANSGENDER COMMUNITY:

    With the collaboration of KAMI CHAUDHRY, the first trans-model of
    Pakistan, we are aiming to create an awareness in the public about all the problem that a transgender person faces in Pakistan on a daily basis and raise enough funds to help them get a better life.

    The transgender community in South Asia, including Pakistan, face brutality
    and humiliation in every walk of life. They face discrimination and violence
    even when seeking health services, affordable housing, education, jobs,
    transportation, and other life options.

    DOMESTIC VOILENCE VICTIMS:

    Below are some facts and figures related to the domestic violence issue in Pakistan.


    *According to a Dawn News Report in 2016, every second woman in
    Pakistan suffers domestic violence.


    *According to Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) report

    ‘State of Human Rights in 2015’, 279 cases of domestic violence were
    recorded- whereas 777 women committed or tried to commit suicide.
    However, HRCP recorded almost 3,000 cases of violence against women
    and girls in 2016. These instances included murder, rape, domestic violence,
    sodomy, and kidnapping.


    *According to a study carried out in 2009by Human Rights Watch, between
    70 and 90 percent of women in Pakistan have suffered some form of abuse.
    And estimated 5,000 women are killed every year from domestic violence.
    With thousands of other every year from domestic violence. With thousands
    of others maimed or disabled.


    We are seeking to create shelters, job opportunities, and other better life
    opportunities for women who have been a victim of domestic violence or who escaped from such a situation.


    THARPARKAR WATER CRISIS:

    Tharparkar is a culturally rich district of Pakistan’s southern province Sindh
    which covers an area of 20,000 sq kilometres. The people of this region live
    below poverty line. People living here face water and food shortage. They
    have health care challenges, environmental crises, epidemics like diarrhoea
    and measles, and many other social issues. Water and food shortage are the sensitive issues which need immediate attention as people are dying of
    it. Since 2011, more than 2000 children under the age of 5 have died of
    malnutrition and certain waterborne diseases.

    CHILD MARRIAGES:
    Although our society is aware of this critical issue, barely a few activists are
    working on it. Below are some facts that we have gathered which provide the
    clear image of the issue.


    *Young girls aged 15-19 have had the highest reported cases domestic
    violence in the last 12 months (24.3%).


    *The highest rate of the girl child marriage practices has recorded in the
    tribal areas of Pakistan where 99% of the girls are married under the
    unlawful traditional practices.


    Through the collaboration with RISING YOUTH, we are aiming to raise
    enough funds to educate such parts of Pakistan. Spreading the awareness
    will help the cause greatly. We believe, through such funds, we will also be to provide free education to the victims of child marriage who were prevented from continuing their education. Moreover, we will help the parents who are forced to marry off their children at early age due to systematic issues.

    OBJECTIVE:
    In order to reach the above mentioned objectives, we are organizing an event to gather the required funds. We believe that the causes, for which the event is being held, will be benefitted immensely through the expected flow of funds.
