The Myriad X In Support Of Summer Series,

About the event

The Myriadis a group of artists who came together with the goal of showcasing new work and promoting collaboration between artists in different mediums. As an artist collective, we are founded on the belief that new work deserves to be celebrated, that all art looks better with a drink in your hand, and that networking doesn't have to be a dirty word. Our quarterly events consist of paintings, sculpture, live music, stand up comedy, short films, play readings, performance art, slam poetry, dance, and anything else DeVos wouldn’t want to fund in a public school. Our past six events have sold out, which led to us look for a more permanent space partnership which could accommodate our growing needs as a business. 

In Support Ofis a retail concept with the goal of bringing inspiring talent to the forefront while supporting causes considered important. Their work has been featured in Refinery 29, NY Magazine, Elle, Domino, Apartment Therapy, and more, and as they continue to widen their sphere, they began to explore what it would mean to bring live events into the space. Their mission of bringing people together and showcasing talent aligns perfectly with the goals of the Myriad, and so we have partnered to create a series of summer events aimed at exploring the locus of art and community. These events, hosted by In Support Of in their backyard gallery space, will introduce the artist network of The Myriad to the design collaborative of In Support Of. Each event will have a medium-specific focus as well as a content-based theme. Throughout the summer we will showcase film, poetry, live music, and personal essays. 

In service of using art to make the world a better place, we also hope to use this collaboration to benefit some of the nonprofit organizations that In Support Of has previously worked with. In doing this we hope to shed light on worthy causes, create a space for artists of all mediums to shine, and continue to grow the mission of both The Myriad and In Support Of. 

Here is a brief overview of the events that we plan to have over the course of the summer: 

Event 1: Dancer 

We will film a dancer or dancers perform in In Support Of Clothing and use the video for promotion of the summer event series and the SS18 clothing. 

Event 2: Thread Mag release party (June 23rd)

Thread Mag is an online and print magazine that is having a brand activation event co hosted by the Myriad and In Support of. 

Event 3: Film Screening/Poetry (July 11th)

We will invite 3-5 filmmakers (depending on film lengths) to screen their films. 

Event 4: Musical Performance(July 24th)

This will be comprised of various musical performers along with some poetry or comedy. 

Event 5: Readings and Written works (August 2nd) 

This event will have various written works including. But not limited to, spoken word, play readings, poetry readings, comedy and theatrical performance. 

Event 6: Musical Performance #2 (August 17th)

*Optional Event: 

We will leave the opportunity open for another event, likely another film screening, if we find we have the available time and resources. 

Event 7: The Myriad presents Art Night 

The Myriad NYC will put up a multimedia event to showcase new paintings, music, poetry, film,and more-- we will source new talent and invite artists from our summer events to show their work again.

Art Night doubles as a networking event and will serve as the final event of the summer to close the In Support Of x Myriad collaboration. 

Why should you sponsor?

The Events will have a reach of upwards of 500 people attending and 3,000 on social media that will help promote the potential sponsor while giving them access to the up and coming art world in NYC. 

Ismael Pieter

I am an Ismael Pieter, and I, along with a few of my colleagues, created the artist collective known as the Myriad immediately after our graduation from New York University. WE have been functioning for a year and have held 5 different multimedia events around all of NYC with a reach of upwards of 300 atttendants. 

We are continuing to grow and with our new connection to In Support Of, we have double our attendance and hope to scale up our events starting this summer.
