UEApprentice Competition 2019,

Norwich, England, United Kingdom Norwich, England, United Kingdom

  • About the event

The UEApprentice, founded in 2017, was set up to give students at UEA a practical opportunity to test and improve their business skills. Modelled off the popular TV show 'The Apprentice', the competition seeks to take a business-style task and have contestants battle it out to be the winning team. Previous tasks have included planning and running a profit-making event, designing a marketing plan, and negotiating to purchase a list of items for the lowest price.

In May 2019, the competition won 'Student Event of the Year' at the UEA Student Union's 'Student Transformation Awards & Recognitions'.

This year we are planning to make the UEApprentice bigger and better than ever before, by introducing multiple rounds. The first round will be a repeat of 2018's highly successful purchasing task, whereby the top two teams will progress to the final round. This will consist of a sales task whereby teams will be given a small amount of seed capital and be asked to generate as much profit as possible.

We are keen to include a charitable focus on the competition this year. Therefore, many of the items sourced within the purchasing task will be donated to local charities, and all money raised in the sales task will be donated.

    Why should you sponsor?

We are seeking financial support to help make this competition possible. With the combined cost of teams' initial budgets and prize money, we see this as a venture we as a society would struggle to solely finance. We also believe this event provides an excellent opportunity for a company to put their name to, due to its charitable elements and award-winning history.

Involvement can also act as a door into our society's membership - some of the most enthusiastic students within the Norwich Business School (and other schools). The Business School consistently ranks as one of the top business schools in the country, most recently achieving a ranking of 9th for Accounting & Finance studies in the Guardian Guide 2020. These are the students we would be promoting your name to.

    Jack Annand

I am now in my fourth year at the University of East Anglia, having graduated with a high 1st class BSc in Accounting & Finance, and now undertaking an MSC Banking & Finance course. I am now in my second term as President of the Business Society, a position I've held since April 2018. I also served on the committee the year before that. The society is something I am passionate about, as are the events and opportunities we run for our members.
