VRY BLK Conference,

New York, New York, United States New York, New York, United States

  • About the event

    WHERE BLACK MINDS CAN REUNITE!

The VRY BLK Conference is an inaugural event that will provide a unique experience that features creators, leaders, educators, developers and more, that identify as Black, African American, African, and/or Afro-x.  The VRY BLK Conference will acknowledge our historical roots and the connection that it has to our creative and leadership drive. We will focus on leadership, innovation and creativity within the black community.

This is a one-day conference that will have panels, workshops/roundtable discussions, a keynote speaker, and Black-owned businesses (exhibitors).

While the VRY BLK Conference have a target audience in terms of race and ethnicity, ANY ONE and EVERY ONE is invited to attend.

    Why should you sponsor?

Sponsors should support the VRY BLK Conference because in New York City we need a professional event that would bring out the highest potential of our Black community members. We need to see and highlight young talent and young business professionals that are working their way towards success, we need to see what we are capable of. Supporting the VRY BLK conference means to support a community of people that do not have access to a lot of professional opportunities. You would be supporting a community of people that  is not aware of the Black-owned businesses that are present throughout the city. This event was created because the founder, Elaine J. Flowers, realized that some of her greatest opportunites came from attending professional conferences and events during her college journey. And now, she wants to give back to her community by having this event.

    Elaine Flowers

My name is Elaine J. Flowers and I'm from Brooklyn, New York. I'm a graduate student studying Higher Education and Student Affairs at SUNY Buffalo State College. I've obtained two college degrees and this is my third (but not my last). I'm passionate about leadership and creativity. This passion was created from my college journey. Similar to many first-generation students, my college experience was hard, and it was not easy for me to navigate through it. After being faced with numerous obstacles and growing from them, I decided that I was going to create my own college path. On this path were different professional development opportunities and events. After realizing that my community in Brooklyn is not offered these opportunities, (because some may not be attending higher education), I decided to create this opportunity and event for them.
