The Dumbo Film Festival (DFF) was envisioned by the
Dumbo Film Festival nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation with
the aim of promoting and supporting established and
emerging movie directors, as well as becoming one of the
key independent film festivals on the international scene.
Main missions are:
• highlighting the young and artistic heart of Dumbo district
by making it an appealing destination for both emergent
and affirmed filmmakers to share their talent and
sensitivity;
• becoming a den for cinema lovers by organizing
competitions, screenings, galas and related activities;
• building a bridge among the many different cultures that
can be experienced under the wing of independent cinema
(thus contributing to raising tolerance and familiarity
towards different ways of life, traditions and new points of
view).
Throughout the past years, the DFF received over 8,000
submissions from all over the world, a larger amount than
many renowned film festivals indicated as A-Fests
(qualifying for Oscars). Applicants to the DFF include films
that have been awarded by prestigious festivals such as
Biennale di Venezia, Berlinale, Festival de Cannes, Tribeca,
Nashville andToronto.
