About the event

Come and be a part of history! The Air Force Marathon is an annual endurance event held the third Saturday of September at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. First held in 1997 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Air Force, the Air Force Marathon has grown into a 13,500 participant event, with runners from all 50 states and many foreign countries. Each course is rife with historic aviation sites and finishes at the National Museum of the United States Air Force, taking runners not just on a journey of several miles but one of over 110 years in military airpower history.

Liz Shine

Liz Shine is the Commercial Sponsorship Coordinator at Wright Patterson Air Force Base and is focused on helping align business and market needs by overseeing communication with sponsors and sponsorship strategy. As a result, her approach is very hands-on and she brings a high level of energy to her work.

She has spent the majority of her career in the tech industry, gaining experiences in areas such as event management, strategic partnerships, and negotiations. She takes pride in providing the best experience possible by ensuring the objectives of both parties are being achieved and value is added. Our sponsors are very important to us and Liz is dedicated to making the the process as streamlined and seamless as possible.

While meeting stakeholder needs is her primary job function by day, Liz also enjoys reading, traveling and interior design.
