Introducing this powerful educational hip hop musical mainly geared toward young adults between ages 12 - 24 called "Ghetto Chronicles A Musical Revue". It is a series of short stories about African American people and their experience of living in today's America told through amazing actors who rap, sing and dance throughout the stories. They will take you on an emotional journey through stories of police brutality, prison injustice, invisible fathers, abuse, gun violence, bad relationships, mental health, racial and sexual profiling. Grab some tissue because you will laugh, cry, think and celebrate this inspirational theatrical production. We've been touring schools, colleges, youth centers and detention centers since February 2006. We were nominated twice for "best new musical (Audelco Award 2006) and "musical of the year" (Play Award 2020). Amsterdam News says its "A Must-See Play". African Sun-Times says "We Will Win A Tony Award". We're requesting $5,000 per Gold package to perform at a total of 10 schools/youth centers in the month of February 2022. This will be in honor of our "Black History Month Celebration". We strive to receive a total of $50,000.00 which includes our full production and its' costs. Our target locations will be the regions of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Philadelphia and Boston. Anything you can assist us with to continue our 15 years of bringing positive messages to our youth would be an asset.
Since February 2006 our production has performed in the front of at least 100,000 young adults, mainly African American, Hispanic and Asian between the ages of 12 - 24. We've been successful with assisting with the launch of brand new clothing companies "Redstuy The Brand" and have catapulted "Young Black Kings Clothing" to even higher visibility by affiliating their brand with our production and clothing the cast with some of their signature pieces. We have a steady following of kids who love the show and who have followed us from theater to theater, school to school to see it once again. They sing the songs from the show and remember every punchline in our program. We have the opportunity to spotlight your brand along side our brand and do the same for your company as well. We are all about building a steady relationship, not just one fly by night event. If your target audience is our target audience, we are the perfect fit for you.
My name is Duane Whitley, but I'm known in the entertainment industry as "DWhit". I'm the writer, director, choregrapher and producer of this musical stage play. Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, I began my career after moving to New York City in the early 90s, while first dancing on a popular show called "Club MTV", then later choreographing for platinum artists such as Joe, Britney Spears, TLC, 702, and touring worldwide with artists such as Usher, Keith Sweat and Deborah Cox. But I found that I still didn't feel fulfilled. I wanted to make my creative talents have meaning which is when I created my first theatrical production "Ghetto Chronicles" in 2006. Since I already had background with being a youth counselor, instructor and teacher's aide, it was just fitting that I would come back to working in the youth sector. I don't refer to myself as a celebrity or looking for fame. I'm more of a youth advocate and an overall activist. I'll continue to create positive projects and events through hip hop music and culture which is what I grew up listening to and love.
