Lauren E. Rizzo (she/her) serves as Director of Operations for St. Sophia’s Forgotten Felines, a volunteer-run cat rescue and adoption organization in the Chicagoland area. In this role, she oversees daily operations, foster and shelter programming, community outreach, and strategic initiatives that support the organization’s mission to save and improve the lives of cats.
Since its founding in 2011, St. Sophia’s has grown from approximately 110 adoptions in its first year to nearly 1,000 adoptions annually today, all accomplished with no paid staff and a dedicated network of volunteers and foster homes. Over the past 15 years, the organization has helped more than 13,500 cats find homes.
Lauren has played a key role in strengthening operational systems, expanding lifesaving and pet retention programs, and securing grant funding to support medical care and community outreach efforts. She is passionate about building collaborative programs that increase access to care, support adopters and foster families, and create sustainable, community-driven solutions in animal welfare.
