The North Sea Ensemble is a project delivered by Luminescence Theatre Company. This production marks the ensemble’s debut performance, bringing together local talent to present one of the most enduring plays of the 20th century.

A text that has been studied by generations in schools, colleges and universities is reimagined by Lowestoft’s new amateur drama group. Join us at the round table, where decisions get made and millions suffer.

Luminescence Theatre Company's North Sea Ensemble Project is in its inaugural year. Luminescence is setting up the North Sea Ensemble as a community theatre troupe performing at the Uplands Community Centre, a large community venue with direct transport links to Lowestoft, Beccles, and Norwich - the UK's first UNESCO City of Literature.

The NSE's first ever production is a reimagined staging of Nelson Bond's Animal Farm. Cast members will meet, directed by practitioners from Luminescence Theatre Company, twice a week throughout October and November for rehearsals and workshops, before staging the show for two nights at the end of November.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to position yourself alongside community arts, and for your organisation to contribute to a brand new project alongside Arts Council England.

Luminescence Theatre Company creates performances, events and community-first projects that bring people together to tell stories.

Many theatre companies focus on making the work and placing it into existing venues. We work a little differently. We produce and host our own events from start to finish - from finding the venue and selling the tickets to welcoming the audience and supporting the artists. This means the environment, the people and the work are shaped together.

Not everything we do is a show. Our work is about learning, experimenting, and sharing stories with others who love making things. Sometimes that leads to a performance. Sometimes it's a workshop, a screening, or a social gathering.
