About the event

ABOUT.

Record & Reset is an 8-day, 7-night artist development and wellness residency designed to connect emerging artists with the knowledge, community, resources, and space to create. Up to 12 artists will travel to a private villa and come together in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico to record, develop, connect, and reset.

Modern independent and early-stage artists are often expected to build careers alone. Many artists lack access to:

• Education. How the music business actually works, from branding & marketing to rights, revenue, and career strategy.
• Mentorship. Guidance from people who have already navigated the industry and can help artists make more informed decisions.
• Space to create. An environment that encourages experimentation, collaboration, and getting outside of familiar routines.
• Wellness tools. The skills and support necessary to manage the pressure, uncertainty, and pace of a long-term creative career.
• Community. Relationships with other artists, producers, & industry professionals that can lead to collaboration, support, & opportunities.

THE EXPERIENCE.

We believe artist development happens outside the comfort zone. Artists will step away from the noise in the industry in the U.S. to dedicate one week entirely to their craft, creativity, wellness, content, and performance, including:

• WORKSHOPS. Development, mentorship, & education from industry professionals.
• STUDIO SESSIONS. On-site studio sessions, equipment rental, and in-house engineers.
• SHARED SPACE. Most rooms are shared, which acts as training for navigating relationships & tour life.
• WELLNESS. Daily wellness activites like yoga, meditation, soundbath, & hot springs.
• MEDIA. On-site videography, photography, content, and documentary production.
• PERFORMANCE. Tiny desk style performances at a local café with performance reviews & prizes for best ratings.

This is not another songwriters retreat. We are genuinely focused on artist growth, wellness, navigating business, partnerships, and reciprocity, starting with brands and organizations like yours.
 

The industry is constantly changing, but the support systems haven't caught up. Artists are increasingly building meaningful careers outside traditional industry and label structures. However, access to music and business education remainsuneven, and the industry itself is increasingly complex.

Talent alone has never guaranteed a career. Artists with access to knowledge, mentorship, relationships, and sustainable systems are better equipped to recognize and capitalize on opportunity.

Record & Reset was created by Mariah the Organizer, Nicole Almanza (LezBeHonest), Claire Lawson, and Ben Mangum. 

My name is Mariah "The Organizer" Vegas. I am the Director of Marketing and Artist Experience for Record & Reset. I've been working with artists and musicians on and off for about a decade. I'm an event planner and independent artist advocate. From music industry networking & educational events, creative direction, artist development, and more, I support artists both as a business and a human.

Record & Reset also focuses heavily on mental health. As someone who's personally lost too many talented friends too soon, I am dedicated to making sure artists not only know how to release music, but how to handle the pressure of being an artist in today's music industry.
