About the event

Royal Metal Fest is the flagship of the association Royal Metal (formerly Metal Royale), and every year creates the framework for a two-day metal festival with both international, Danish and local bands. Among other things, the death metal success BAEST played their debut concert at the Royal Metal Fest in 2016.
 

Royal Metal Fest 2023 will take place on 1 and 2 September in the last weekend of Aarhus Festival Week on the stages Rytmisk Sal and Klubscenen in the Musikhuset as well as the Musikhuset's foyer. It is the first time Royal Metal Fest is located in Aarhus Festival Week. After 2023, Royal Metal Fest will again be held on the first weekend of April, while the association's newly established mini-festival, Royal Mini Fest, will be held during Festugen.

Royal Metal Fest also celebrates the 15th anniversary of the first holding of the festival in 2023, and is a respected festival both at home and abroad - to the delight of both metal musicians and the Aarhusian metal audience.

The purpose of Royal Metal Fest, and the association's overall work, is to promote a focus on metal music and metal music's development opportunities and activities in Aarhus. At the same time, we focus on the profiling of Aarhusian metal bands nationally and internationally. It is important to us that we help to leave a positive mark on both the local and the national music scene. At the same time, it is of great importance for the general cultural environment in Aarhus that we, as an association and festival organizer, contribute to the diversity of, and understanding of, other subcultures.
With the Royal Metal Fest 2023, we are continuing a 15-year tradition of enriching Aarhus with cultural events, which over the years have given our local, national and international guests, press people, business partners, etc. the opportunity to gather for good memories and strong networking opportunities.
