Service Education Summit,

Wenatchee, Washington, United States Wenatchee, Washington, United States

  • About the event

SkillSource and it's OneStop Partner agencies, including us, WorkSource, DVR, OIC, Community Action Council, Wenatchee Valley College, Big Bend Community College, and JobCorps (so far, more to come) have come together to create a clear, consistent and user friendly way to explain the resources that these agencies have to offer.

Currently, ours an our partners' offices receive bad referrals where a client comes in saying that "insert whomever" sent me and said that you could help. Sometimes we can help, which is wonderful. Sometimes the client comes to us regurgitating what the other referring organization had to say, and many times it isn't correct due to the endless game of telephone that seems to misconstrue our programs and assistance offered. This kind of client "hand-off" causes frustration and confusion for the individual and the organization.

To combat this, we are making an old fashioned, paper in a binder resource directory. Many programs have something like this, such as 211, but unfortunately it gets so big that it can't be monitored, kept up to date, and written in a language that the average person who doesn't work there would understand.

So far this, directory is seeing support and success within the agencies. Our next step is to create a summit that introduces this directory to the rest of our valley. The summit would consit of key note speakers, teaching about the uses of the directory, networking opportunities, and educational lessons on the barriers that stand between us (the assisting organization) and the client needing assistance.

    Why should you sponsor?

So far we have planned to have a minimum of 150 people attend this summit due to budget constraints. But with the help of sponsors we would have the ability to increase the size of the summit and offer it later in 3 more counties.

Being a sponsor for this event would provide immediate exposure to about 150 individuals. However, it possesses the potential to reach over 500 individuals within the next year!

    Amanda Bobbitt

I am a new member of the SkillSource team that has a vision to bridge the gap between our community and poverty. I like to aim high in my vision for the work that this valley can do for its members and I know these goals can be met, because people all over are doing just that.

I have been involved in the creation and implementation of many events in the Wenatchee Valley, including United Way's Color Rush, Opportunity Community Conference, and Youth United. So I have experience marketing and ensuring the success of programs and events.

I would love to have a conversation with you on what you are able to sponsor to help make this summit bigger and better than we could do on our own. Monetary, service, and item sponsors and donations can all be used to make this happen!
