  • About the event

    Hi,

Moon Jumpers Ensemble is a young performance artists ensemble. Each of our productions are 100 percent creatively controled by children 8 - 18 (Directing, Lighting, Sound, Set design). We've just begin our eigth season, and our upcoming show will be You're a Good Man Charlie Brown (Which we have done before in 2022) . It will run from November 13- 14 (with a preview show specifically for those with special needs and their families)..

You're a Good Man Charlie Brown is a series of vignettes that follows the life of the most ordinary boy in the world. Through musical numbers and dance they learn the meaning of life. Happiness, friendship, and suppertime.

    Why should you sponsor?

This will be our first sponsored show, and we believe that we make a good partner. Not only are we local, but we also give the children the opportunity to create real theatre. They Direct the show, control lighting and sound, they control stage management, stage crew, and set design. We train them to put on the best show possible, while entertaining real life audiences.

We would love to find partners who are excited about the arts, and kids in the arts.

My name is Rufus D. Wood

I am the founder and Artistic Director of Moon Jumpers Ensemble. I was born and raised in the city of Chicago. I grew up the son of Jazz pianist Rufus D. Wood, and student of Band Director Dr. Joseph L. Miller, and trumpet player and band director Newsome Oatis. After high school I joined the U.S. Army (from 200 - 2008). Upon returning I enrolled in Northeastern Illinois University where I recieved a degree in Communication Media and Theatre, with a minor in history.

After college I began acting here in Chicago with Three Crows Theatre Company. I am also  the technical director for the Oriole Park Elementary School Drama Club founded by Rebecca Bistrow. I have directed nine shows with Oriole Park. I have also directed three shows with Ecclectic Full Contact theatre, and two audio plays with them as well.

I founded Moon Jumpers in 2017 with the vision of being able to allow children to get roles that they typically don't get in theatre and have the opportunity to put on real shows for a real audience. We are not a camp, and we opporate as a actual not for profit community theatre. My wife an I have built this company and every show out of our own pockets, and we hope to one day turn Moon Jumpers into a professional consevatory.

Your support would mean so much to us.

    Warm Regards,

    Rufus D Wood
