About the event

The Girl With The Red Balloon is an original two-act live stage production written and directed by Derrick Peprah of PepFilmStudios. Planned for Yoshi’s Oakland in April 2027, the production combines relationship drama, dark comedy, audience interaction, and immersive supper-club staging. The story explores love, trust, ambition, manipulation, friendship, and the consequences of the choices people make in relationships. The goal is to give audiences an entertaining and memorable night of live theater in Oakland.

Why should you sponsor?

Sponsoring The Girl With The Red Balloon supports an independently produced Oakland arts project while helping create paid opportunities for performers and production professionals. Sponsor support contributes directly to cast and crew compensation, rehearsal space, venue costs, production needs, and audience development.

My name is Derrick Peprah, and I am a Bay Area writer, director, actor, and founder of PepFilmStudios. My work focuses on character-driven stories about relationships, family, ambition, faith, and the choices people make under pressure. I have developed and directed independent film projects and am now expanding that storytelling into live theater with The Girl With The Red Balloon. My goal is to create high-quality original productions, provide opportunities for local creative talent, and build memorable experiences that connect with audiences in Oakland and throughout the Bay Area.
