About the event

Staging additional festive activities in celebration of the Lunar New Year to attract a broad audience to Chinatown during the 70s, a group of volunteers focused on an event that could draw a large and diverse audience to Chinatown. Starting humbly with a 10K Run, Firecracker10k.org has evolved 49 years later, to host the largest Lunar New Year Run, Walk, Cycling, and Dog Walk event in the United States. The annual event now attracts over 20,000 spectators and 9,000 participants over a two-day period in celebration of the Chinese Lunar holiday. Proceeds from the annual event are donated back to Chinatown and surrounding communities.

By supporting the L.A. Chinatown Firecracker event, your support will directly benefit our projects and initiatives, such as:

• Chinatown local elementary schools and various Los Angeles and SGV community organizations via the Firecracker Give Back program. 
• Firecracker Fund - a project grant to organizations in partnership with the Asian Pacific Community Fund (APCF).
• Sherwood Lee Scholarship Fund - an annual scholarship to the Alhambra Unified School District (AUSD) automotive students.

L.A. Chinatown Firecracker Run Committee, Inc. (LACFRC) is a non-salaried group of volunteers who donate their time and energy to organize and stage events and programs, promoting health, fitness, and cultural awareness to the greater Los Angeles community.

All proceeds are reinvested in the community, in support of elementary schools and non-profit organizations, providing services and programs that benefit local neighborhoods.

Firecracker is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
