Justin Lester

Rev. Dr. Justin R. Lester is That Tech Pastor. He serves as Senior Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in Vallejo, California, where they've been doing ministry since 1948. Today, he's building something different: a church where young adults actually want to be, and where technology serves the gospel.

Justin earned degrees from Marquette (M.A.), Vanderbilt Divinity School (M.Div.), and Boston University (D.Min.), where he focused on AI and gamification in the Black Church. He teaches at Virginia Union University's school of Theology, and serves on the boards of Hampton University School of Religion and the Black Religious Scholars Group.

Through That Tech Pastor, PastorGPT, and TheoXTech, Justin helps churches stop being afraid of technology and start using it to do ministry better. He builds real tools that real pastors use: sermon workflow systems, AI implementation strategies, and digital discipleship frameworks that actually work on Sunday morning.

Justin speaks at conferences, consults with churches, and creates content for ministry leaders who are tired of choosing between being relevant and being righteous. His message: be both.

He lives in Northern California with his wife Courtney and their son Camden. Sunday mornings he preaches. The rest of the week he builds the future of ministry, one prompt at a time.
